INTRO POEM

How does love die?
Not quickly or steadily
But with gasping sighs
It flares readily
Only to be doused again
By the icy chills of a heart frozen with selfishness

Dreams remain amidst the pain
Though sometimes obscured by realities stain
The strain of hopes lost shows on your face
Hiding the smiles of wedding and lace
When love ran full and free
Undamned, not stagnant with times pollution.

I slept alone again last night
No anger.  Only fatigue and frustration
Unable to continue the fight 
Of ego battling constant rejection
Of love offered, but continually spurned 
Until the wounds of the heart are irreparable

My emotions encased in scars
Are robbed of joy in sky and stars
Laughing, a clown, feigning happiness
Hide from the world my emptiness
Will I ever love or be loved again?
Or have I irrevocably lost the spark of life?

Just in time

In my adolescent wonder at emotions oh so new
And the feeling in the music that was true
In experienced at loving and not knowing what to do
Worlds failed me.  That's when I first met you.

You were just in time
With "Nights in White Satin"
Said what my soul was feeling all along
And you filled the hole in my aching heart 
So I could keep on tryin'

When I say my friends and cousins fighting Southeast Asian wars
And I knew that some would not be coming home
Confused at protest hatred and the thunder in my brain
You saved me there again you should know

Said what my soul was feeling all along

And I paid the price of all my mortal faults

I've been rich and I've been broken.  I've been loved and been alone
Some lifetime dreams have shattered.  Some came true
In my mystic meditations I'm still yearning to be whole
And the words you sing reach deep into my soul
